University of Ireland to honor Arshad Sharif

The inauguration of an award honoring the murdered Pakistani journalist Arshad Sharif, who was killed in Kenya on October 23, has been announced by Ulster University in Ireland.

Dr. Colm Murphy wrote to Somiya Arshad, the late journalist’s wife, asking for her approval to rename the “Best Investigative Journalist Award” after Arshad Sharif.

The Arshad Sharif award would be given to students each year for the finest articles they created, according to the letter’s explanation. By doing this, this prize will pay homage to Sharif’s legacy of truth-seeking and serve as a source of inspiration for journalists in the coming years.
