PTI applauds the supreme court’s decision

Reactions to the Supreme Court’s (SC) decision in the Punjab and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) elections suo moto case have come from political parties of all stripes. The largest political party of Pakistan, PTI has applauded the supreme court’s verdict.

Fawad Chaudhry of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) praised the decision, calling it “a win for the Constitution.”

The PTI leader noted that the federation is obligated by the Supreme Court to offer all forms of support, including security and financial resources for holding elections.

President Arif Alvi had previously urged that elections take place on April 9; in response, he stated that the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) had suggested in court that the commission might make the elections possible on April 25.

He added that the Supreme Court will expel the administration in accordance with Article 187 if it doesn’t accept the SC’s ruling.

He further stated that the notion of holding the election within 90 days had the support of all five judges. The PTI leader emphasised that elections are the cornerstone of the state during a press conference.

He hoped that the PTI would establish governments in Punjab and KP.

Azam Nazeer Tarar, the Federal Law Minister for the government, stated that neither a review of the Supreme Court’s ruling nor an interpretation of the case was necessary.

He claimed that applications were still being heard in the High Courts, where the decision’s interpretation was also being considered.
