Electricity Bill Relief Only for Single-Phase Meter Users

The electricity relief announced by Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz has disappointed many, as it applies only to single-phase meter users, leaving those with three-phase meters without any reductions.

According to Lahore Electric Supply Company (LESCO) sources, the Rs14 per unit relief, initially intended for both single and three-phase meter consumers, has now been limited solely to single-phase meters.

This has caused frustration among three-phase meter users who were anticipating the same relief on their electricity bills. It was earlier announced that the relief would be applicable across the board, but directives from the ministry restricted the benefit to single-phase consumers only.

As a result, no reduction has been reflected in the current bills for three-phase meter users. LESCO offices have witnessed a surge of complaints from affected customers seeking clarification on the matter.

The move comes on the heels of a similar decision in Islamabad, where the promised Rs14 per unit discount was also revoked. However, consumers in other parts of Punjab, including Rawalpindi, will still enjoy the reduced rates.
