The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) has forecast days-long spells of rain, bringing much-needed relief from the heat. Starting Tuesday, June 18, isolated showers are expected across the country.
The Met Office announced that moist currents from the Arabian Sea will penetrate the upper and central regions. A shallow westerly wave is also expected to approach the western parts of Pakistan on June 18.
Under this weather system, Gilgit-Baltistan and Kashmir will experience rain and thunderstorms this evening and tomorrow morning (June 15). However, hot and dry weather will return for two days after Saturday.

Another wet spell with thunderstorms is predicted in parts of Gilgit-Baltistan, including Diamir, Astore, Ghizer, Skardu, Hunza, and Gilgit, as well as the Kashmir region, from June 18 to June 22. Heavy falls are likely in Kashmir during this period.
Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) will see thunderstorms and rain in areas such as Dir, Swat, Malakand, and Peshawar this evening and tomorrow morning. The southern parts of the province will experience very hot and dry weather from June 16 to June 18, but the intensity will decrease in many areas after showers from June 18 to June 22.
Similar weather is expected in Punjab, including Islamabad, Rawalpindi, Lahore, and Sialkot. However, Balochistan and Sindh will continue to face intense heat until June 20. From June 20 to 22, Quetta, Zhob, and other areas in Balochistan will receive rain accompanied by dust and thunderstorms.
In Sindh, isolated rain-thunderstorms are forecast for Sukkur, Jacobabad, Kashmore, and Larkana on June 21 and 22.
The PMD has warned of potential lightning strikes and the risk to electric poles, loose structures, solar panels, and vehicles during gusty winds. Authorities have been advised to remain alert and take necessary precautions to avoid any untoward incidents during this period.
