After a protracted fight, Russia claimed to have taken control of the devastated eastern town of Soledar on Friday. On Saturday, Ukraine reported a new round of attacks and hits on important infrastructure assets.
After a humiliating string of military failures, victory in Soledar would be a rare success for Moscow, notwithstanding Kyiv’s insistence that battle was still going on there.
The infrastructure in Ukraine came under attack once more early on Saturday, according to officials.
“Today, the enemy fired at energy facilities again,” operator Ukrenergo said. He further said that it was working on “eliminating the consequences” of the strikes.
Journalists from AFP heard numerous explosions in Kyiv, and Ukrainian officials said there had been attacks on a power plant.
“There is a hit to an infrastructure facility, without critical destruction or fire,” the Kyiv city administration said.
According to the report, a warehouse caught fire when rocket fragments dropped nearby; no casualties were recorded in the capital.
Oleg Synegubov, the governor of the northeastern Kharkiv area, claimed that “the adversary launched another missile attack on important infrastructure and industrial sites.”

Igor Taburets, the governor of the central Cherkasy district, claimed that the enemy is once more attacking Ukrainian land.
According to the deputy head of the president Kyrylo Tymoshenko, three persons were murdered by Russian attacks on Friday.
