The Government of Pakistan has officially released the schedule for public and optional holidays for the year 2026.
The notification, issued by the Cabinet Secretariat (Cabinet Division), highlights the days of national importance and religious significance for the general public, banks, and minority communities.

According to the notification, the major public holidays include Kashmir Day on February 5, Pakistan Day on March 23, and Eid-ul-Fitr, expected to fall on March 21, 22, and 23, with dates subject to the sighting of the moon.
Labour Day will be observed on May 1, followed by Youm-e-Takbeer on May 28. Eid-ul-Azha is anticipated on May 27, 28, and 29, while Ashura (9th and 10th Moharram) will be marked on June 24 and 25. Independence Day falls on August 14, Eid Milad-un-Nabi on August 25, and Allama Iqbal Day on November 9.
Both Quaid-e-Azam Day and Christmas will be observed on December 25, with the day after Christmas, December 26, recognized as a holiday for Christians.These holidays provide citizens with the official framework to plan personal, professional, and religious observances throughout the year, while dates for Islamic festivals remain subject to moon sightings.
