Govt Increases Petrol and Diesel Prices in Pakistan

The federal government has increased the prices of petrol and diesel, with the revised rates set to take effect from May 1, 2026, according to a notification issued by the Ministry of Energy (Petroleum Division).

Under the new pricing, high-speed diesel (HSD) has been increased by Rs. 19.39 per liter, raising its price from Rs. 380.19 to Rs. 399.58 per liter.

The price of motor spirit (petrol) has also been raised by Rs. 6.51 per liter, taking it from Rs. 393.35 to Rs. 399.86 per liter.

The increase comes as part of the government’s routine revision of petroleum product prices, which are periodically adjusted in line with market factors.

In a separate statement, the Petroleum Division dismissed reports suggesting that petrol pumps would be shut from May 1, terming such claims incorrect.

The division said the supply of petroleum products will continue without interruption and emphasized that there is no plan to suspend fuel availability.

It also urged the public to refrain from spreading unverified information that may cause unnecessary concern.

The statement added that petroleum supplies have remained uninterrupted since the onset of tensions in the Middle East and assured that supply will continue to be maintained in the coming days as well.
