The Punjab Food Authority (PFA) has dismissed reports claiming that the sale of already slaughtered chicken has been banned across the province, calling the news false and misleading.
In a statement, the authority clarified that it has not issued any order or notification restricting the sale of chicken meat that has already been slaughtered. The clarification came after social media posts and some news reports suggested that shopkeepers were instructed to slaughter chickens only in front of customers.

According to the PFA, citizens are free to purchase clean, Halal, and hygienically prepared chicken from licensed sellers. The authority emphasized that its primary focus is to ensure food safety and hygiene standards, not to impose unnecessary restrictions on lawful businesses.
Officials urged people to verify such claims through official sources before sharing them online. They added that the authority regularly inspects markets to ensure the sale of quality meat and hygienic food products across Punjab.
The PFA reaffirmed its commitment to providing safe and healthy food to the public and advised citizens to contact the helpline 1223 for any food safety complaints or information.
