China’s Jinpeng to Launch Electric and Gasoline Bikes in Pakistan

Pakistan’s JW Group has partnered with China’s Jinpeng Group, the world’s largest electric tricycle maker, to launch production of electric and gasoline-powered two- and three-wheelers in the country.

According to company representatives, the manufacturing lines are now operational at JW Group’s facilities in Lahore. The development is seen as an important step for Pakistan’s two- and three-wheeler industry, which has long relied on conventional motorcycles and auto-rickshaws.

JW SEZ Group already operates a joint venture with SAIC Motor International of China under the name MG JW Automobile Pakistan, producing MG-branded vehicles locally. The new agreement with Jinpeng broadens the company’s focus to include light vehicles designed for mass mobility.

Muhammad Javed Afridi, Chief Executive Officer of JW Corporation, said the collaboration combines Jinpeng’s technological expertise with JW’s local capacity and nationwide sales network. He added that the venture could potentially position Pakistan as an export hub for new energy vehicles across South Asia.

Zakir Ali, Chief Executive Officer of Jinpeng Group, said the company views Pakistan as a key growth market for electric mobility. He explained that introducing both gasoline and electric variants would allow the firm to meet current demand while gradually preparing the market for wider adoption of electric vehicles.
