Pakistani Cricketers’ New Central Contract Earnings Revealed

The Pakistan Cricket Board’s (PCB) latest central contracts have stirred debate, with the biggest surprise being the absence of a single player in Category A for the first time since the system was introduced.

While much of the discussion has centered around player demotions and promotions, the board has quietly rolled out a significant salary increase for those in the lower categories.

According to details, players in Category C will now earn PKR 2.5 million per month, marking a PKR 500,000 increase from last year’s PKR 2 million. Similarly, Category D cricketers will receive PKR 1.5 million, up PKR 300,000 from the previous PKR 1.2 million. Category B players, meanwhile, will continue to draw PKR 3 million per month without any raise.

A total of 30 players have been contracted, with 10 names each in Categories B, C, and D. The fresh list includes 12 newcomers such as Ahmed Daniyal, Faheem Ashraf, Hasan Ali, Hasan Nawaz, Hussain Talat, Khushdil Shah, Mohammad Abbas, Mohammad Haris, Mohammad Nawaz, Sahibzada Farhan, Salman Mirza, and Sufyan Moqim.

At the same time, eight cricketers have lost their contracts compared to last year, including Aamir Jamal, Haseebullah, Kamran Ghulam, Mir Hamza, Mohammad Ali, Mohammad Huraira, Muhammad Irfan Khan, and Usman Khan.

While questions remain about the PCB’s evaluation process, the revised pay scale shows a clear effort to reward and support a broader pool of talent.
