Pervez Musharraf laid to rest

The former president, who passed away on February 5 in Dubai, will be buried at an army cemetery close to Kala Pull, according to Tahir Hussain, a spokesman for the All Pakistan Muslim League (APML).

The former army leaders Qamar Javed Bajwa, Ashfaq Parvez Kayani, and Aslam Beg attended the funeral together with General Sahir Shamshad Mirza, chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff Committee (CJCSC).

The APML spokeswoman told Dawn.com that politicians such as former federal information minister Javed Jabbar, PSP’s Mustafa Kamal, PML-N leader Amir Muqam, PTI leader and former governor of Sindh Imran Ismail, former FBR chairman Shabbir Zaidi, and Musharraf’s son Bilal were also there.

Musharraf’s body was transported by special aircraft from Dubai and arrived at the Karachi airport on Monday night.

The old terminal at Karachi Airport was sealed off by MP workers who had been captured by Pakistan Rangers hours before the jet touched down. En route to the cantonment, there was also evidence of heavy security.
