Imran Khan talks for the first time after assassination attempt

Imran Khan, the former prime minister, spoke to the nation yesterday for the first time following his attempted assassination in Wazirabad. From the Shaukat Khanum Hospital in Lahore, where Khan is now receiving medical attention, he addressed the nation.

Dr. Faisal Sultan, Khan’s former health aide, provided some background information on Khan’s wounds in the beginning. Imran’s right leg’s X-rays were displayed, and the doctor declared that the tibia was fractured and had been damaged.

Following Dr Faisal’s briefing, Khan asserted that he was aware of the threat and the assassination plan. He claimed to already be aware of the attack and to be aware that they intended to assassinate him in either Gujrat or Wazirabad.

Khan claimed that the Member of Provisional Assemblies (MPAs) of his party were in danger when discussing a plan in Islamabad.

He claimed that attacks on PTI leaders started as soon as General Faisal was assigned to Islamabad.

Moreover, Khan claimed that four people plotted to kill him. He stated that the “handlers” were taking the decisions at the back but the people were turning out to his rallies in record numbers.

“I have friendships within the institutions, I know people. I know what they did in these six months. I recorded a video with four names of people planning behind the doors against me,” said the former prime minister in his first address after being shot.

The former premier alleged that the “government and its handlers” had planned to get him murdered in the same way former Punjab governor Salman Taseer was killed.

“Firstly, they accused me of blasphemy, they made tapes and released them and PMLN projected it, I knew who was doing it.”

“It is very easy to find out because this is a digital world. So first it was projected that I disrespected religion and then their plan was what they did in Wazirabad, that a religious extremist killed Imran Khan,” the PTI chief claimed.

Imran Khan, the chairman of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), requested General Qamar Javed Bajwa, the chief of army staff, to punish the “black sheep” in his organisation.

Khan questioned Gen. Bajwa, asking if the violence would improve the army’s reputation. He claimed that some “black sheep” are dishonouring the army, which is detrimental to the Pakistani people.

On November 3, while Imran Khan’s container travelled through Wazirabad in Punjab, there was an attempt on his life. Imran Khan managed to escape the attack.

After the shooting, the shooter, who was apprehended by police, claimed that Khan was “misleading the public” and that’s why he wanted to murder him.

Khan began to receive criticism from both his adversaries and the world community.
