Prices of popular Suzuki models, including Alto and Cultus, are likely to see an increase following the federal government’s proposal of a 1% New Energy Vehicle (NEV) Adoption Levy in the 2025–26 budget.
The levy targets petrol-powered vehicles with engine capacities between 660cc and 1300cc. According to the government, this new tax aims to generate revenue from conventional fuel vehicles to support electric vehicle development and related infrastructure.

If implemented, the 1% levy will be added to the ex-factory price of affected vehicles, causing a modest price hike across several entry-level and mid-range models in Pakistan.
For Suzuki’s best-selling Alto lineup, the expected new prices are:
- Alto VXR: Rs. 2,855,270 (up from Rs. 2,827,000)
- Alto VXR AGS: Rs. 3,018,890 (up from Rs. 2,989,000)
- Alto VXL AGS: Rs. 3,171,400 (up from Rs. 3,140,000)
Meanwhile, the Cultus variants are also expected to cost more:
- Cultus VXR: Rs. 4,272,300 (up from Rs. 4,230,000)
- Cultus VXL: Rs. 4,359,160 (up from Rs. 4,316,000)
- Cultus AGS: Rs. 4,664,180 (up from Rs. 4,618,000)
The proposed levy is part of broader efforts to encourage a shift toward cleaner mobility in Pakistan.
