PM Shehbaz Set to Approve Appointments of 19 Ambassadors and Consuls General

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif is set to approve the appointments of 19 ambassadors and consuls general of Pakistan to various countries.

According to sources cited by Geo News, the Foreign Office has submitted a summary to the prime minister proposing the names of new ambassadors.

Rahim Hayat Qureshi, currently serving as Secretary of the Board of Investment (BOI), is slated to become the ambassador to Brussels, home to the European Union headquarters.

Asima Rabbani has been nominated as ambassador to the Philippines, while Abdul Hameed Bhutta will take on the role of ambassador to Japan.

Zahid Hafeez Chaudhri, who previously served as the Foreign Office spokesperson, will be appointed as ambassador to Indonesia. Similarly, Najeeb Durrani is set to become the ambassador to Ghana.

Additionally, Moazzam Shah has been nominated as ambassador to South Korea, Malik Muhammad Farooq to South Africa, and Syed Adil Gilani to Morocco. Tariq Karim and Aqsa Nawaz have been designated as ambassadors to African countries.

Other appointments include Syed Haider Shah as ambassador to the Netherlands, Amir Shaukat as ambassador to Egypt, Shehryar Akbar as ambassador to the Czech Republic, and Marghoob Saleem Butt as ambassador to Switzerland.

On the consular side, Zaman Mehdi will be posted as consul general in Chicago, Wajid Hashmi in Melbourne, Tanveer Bhatti in Chengdu, China, and Imtiaz Gondal in Manchester.
