Govt reveals how much hajj will cost next year

The federal cabinet has approved Pakistan’s Hajj Policy for 2025, setting a target of 179,210 pilgrims. The official Hajj package will cost between Rs. 1,065,000 and Rs. 1,075,000, with 5,000 slots allocated under the government’s sponsorship scheme and 25,000 for private operators.

The Hajj quota is split evenly, giving 50% to the Government Scheme and 50% to private operators. A key update includes increased compensation for families of deceased pilgrims, who will now receive Rs. 2 million, double the previous amount.

Injured pilgrims will receive Rs. 1 million. Additionally, the policy specifies that children under 12 years will not be allowed to travel for Hajj this year.

The government will conduct computerized balloting to allocate seats, with 1,000 slots reserved for hardship cases.

Another 300 seats are set aside for low-income workers associated with the Workers Welfare Fund or the Employees Old-Age Benefits Institution, ensuring broader access for workers.

The Ministry of Religious Affairs has introduced strict health regulations for the upcoming Hajj, aligning with Saudi Arabia’s updated health protocols. As per the revised policy, individuals with certain serious medical conditions will be barred from the pilgrimage to protect vulnerable groups.

Those ineligible for Hajj under the new guidelines include individuals with severe heart, respiratory, or kidney diseases, as well as cancer patients. Pilgrims must now provide a health certificate confirming their fitness for the journey.

Specifically, the ministry’s policy excludes individuals currently undergoing dialysis, recent heart attack patients, and those with lung conditions. Additionally, individuals with liver failure, certain neurological conditions, or severe mental health issues are also restricted.
