Rawalpindi’s long-awaited Kutchery Chowk remodeling project is expected to open for traffic next week, bringing an end to months of congestion and diversions faced by commuters in the area.
The project includes newly constructed flyovers and underpasses aimed at making the busy intersection signal-free and improving traffic movement on one of the city’s major corridors.

Chief Traffic Officer (CTO) Farhan Aslam said the project is likely to become operational on Tuesday next week after final preparations are completed.
Construction work on the project began in November 2025, forcing traffic to shift to alternate routes that caused delays, higher fuel consumption and difficulties for daily commuters.
According to traffic police officials, more than 250,000 vehicles are expected to pass through Kutchery Chowk daily without major congestion once the project opens.
Authorities have also constructed pedestrian bridges connecting the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) building with the district courts area and another linking Fatima Jinnah Women University with the Adiala Road bus stop.
Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz is expected to formally inaugurate the project next week.
Residents and commuters have welcomed the development, expressing hope that the opening of the remodeled intersection will significantly reduce travel time in the city.
