Haris Rauf set a new Big Bash League record during the Melbourne derby by becoming the fastest bowler to reach 50 wickets in the tournament.
Rauf achieved the milestone in the match between Melbourne Stars and Melbourne Renegades, dismissing Jake Fraser-McGurk for his 50th wicket. He struck again later in the innings to remove Will Sutherland, taking his tally to 51 wickets in just 30 BBL matches.

Rauf broke the previous record held by John Hastings, who reached 50 wickets in 38 matches. Bowling for the Stars, Rauf finished with figures of 2 for 31 from four overs and delivered key breakthroughs as the Renegades looked to accelerate.
Rauf currently leads the tournament’s wicket charts with 15 wickets in eight innings.
For the Renegades, wicketkeeper batter Mohammad Rizwan scored 21 off 20 balls before Marcus Stoinis dismissed him. The Renegades closed their innings at 166 for 7 in 20 overs, setting the Stars a target in the derby clash.
