Four Major Karachi Roads to be Upgraded for Rs. 4.2 Billion

The Karachi Metropolitan Corporation has approved a Rs. 4.2 billion plan to upgrade four major roads in the city as part of a large-scale infrastructure improvement initiative.

Mayor Murtaza Wahab approved the plan while chairing a meeting at KMC headquarters, where officials finalized the scope and funding for the project. The upgrade will cover Rashid Minhas Road, S.M. Taufique Road, Sir Shah Suleman Road, and Pehalwan Goth Road, all of which serve as key traffic corridors connecting multiple parts of Karachi.

According to officials, KMC has allocated Rs. 1.12 billion for Rashid Minhas Road, Rs. 429 million for S.M. Taufique Road, Rs. 574 million for Sir Shah Suleman Road, and Rs. 1.9 billion for Pehalwan Goth Road. The project includes full rehabilitation of road surfaces, resolution of long-standing sewerage issues, improved lane markings, and development of green belts along the corridors.

KMC officials said the upgrades aim to improve traffic flow and strengthen connectivity between major arteries and inner-city areas. The mayor directed relevant departments to float tenders immediately to ensure timely execution of the project.
