In a move to make driving license issuance more transparent, the Punjab Traffic Police has announced a new modern testing system aimed at eliminating bribery, influence, and human bias.
DIG Traffic Waqas Nazir said testing vehicles across the province will soon be fitted with internal and external cameras, as well as advanced sensors. These will monitor every move of the test-taker in real-time, automatically recording any errors.

This system is designed to remove manual interference and ensure fair assessments. Biometric attendance will also be introduced to verify each candidate’s identity, preventing impersonation and boosting system security.
The department plans to deploy the upgraded vehicles in all driving test centers to maintain consistency throughout Punjab.
The initiative is part of a broader effort to crack down on unqualified drivers. DIG Nazir revealed that only 17% of drivers in Punjab currently have valid licenses. The new system is expected to increase this number and allow authorities to take stricter action against those driving without a license.
With these changes, Punjab aims to improve road safety, restore trust in the licensing system, and make the entire process more accountable and efficient.
