The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) has forecast intense heat across the country during the Eid-ul-Adha holidays, urging the public to take precautionary measures.
According to a notification issued by the Met Office, a high-pressure system is expected to develop over Pakistan on June 7 and will affect most parts of the country from June 8 onwards.

Between June 7 and June 12, daytime temperatures are expected to remain 4°C to 6°C above normal in southern regions, including upper and central Sindh, southern Punjab, and parts of Balochistan.
In the northern areas, including central and upper Punjab, Islamabad, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Kashmir, and Gilgit-Baltistan, temperatures are expected to rise 5°C to 7°C above normal. The PMD has advised the general public—particularly children, women, and senior citizens—to avoid direct sunlight during peak hours and stay hydrated throughout the day.
Meanwhile, the federal government has declared a four-day public holiday for Eid-ul-Adha, from Friday, June 6 to Monday, June 9, 2025. The notification, issued by the Cabinet Division, applies to both five-day and six-day working weeks.The holiday schedule was approved by Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and is in line with the annual public holiday calendar announced in December 2024.
