Abbottabad police, in partnership with COMSATS University, has introduced a new app, E-Device-CR, aimed at curbing mobile phone theft. The app creates a centralised database of device information, simplifying the tracking of lost or stolen phones.
The platform enables users and mobile phone dealers to log IMEI numbers during purchase or sale transactions. This information is automatically shared with police headquarters, ensuring swift action in case of theft or loss.

The app was officially launched by District Police Officer (DPO) Umar Tufail at COMSATS University during the Science Expo 2024. The event featured a detailed briefing by the app’s developers, who highlighted its key features and user-friendly interface.
Speaking at the launch, DPO Umar Tufail stressed the app’s role in deterring mobile phone theft and encouraged citizens and dealers to actively use it for effective device recovery. He added that this initiative represents a step forward in leveraging technology for public safety.
To recognise their efforts, DPO Tufail presented certificates of appreciation to the students who developed the app.
With this innovative approach, Abbottabad police aim to make the city safer by ensuring that stolen mobile phones can be tracked and recovered more efficiently.
