Authorities in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa have announced the closure of Naran and several other tourist hotspots following heavy snowfall, which has rendered roads unsafe for travel. The decision aims to prevent accidents caused by slippery roads and blocked routes, particularly in higher altitudes.
According to Mansehra Deputy Commissioner, tourists are advised to avoid travelling to areas such as Naran, Babusar Top, and other upper regions until conditions improve. The snowfall has made roads treacherous, posing significant risks to vehicles and passengers.

The police have set up checkpoints to redirect vehicles heading towards these closed destinations. Instead, tourists are encouraged to explore alternative locations like Shogran and Balakot, which offer a safe environment to enjoy the winter season.
For those planning to visit the northern areas, officials have urged travellers to contact the tourism department’s helpline (1422) for updates on road conditions and weather before embarking on their journey.
In a related development, the Khunjerab Pass, an essential trade and tourism route connecting Pakistan with China, has been officially closed. The border will remain shut for all public traffic and trade activities for the next four months, reopening on 1 April 2025.
