The Punjab government is expected to announce a two-week winter vacation for educational institutions across the province, as per its annual practice. Reports suggest the winter break for both public and private schools may begin on Saturday, December 21, and end on Wednesday, January 1, 2025.
The Punjab School Education Department will make the final decision after reviewing the weather conditions. This year, the severe smog that prompted temporary school closures could also impact the holiday schedule.

Last year, winter vacations were initially scheduled from December 18 to December 31 but were later extended to January 9 due to unexpected circumstances. Recently, schools in Rawalpindi, Faisalabad, and Gujranwala divisions resumed operations following improved air quality.
However, schools in Lahore and Multan divisions will open tomorrow. To prioritise student safety and minimise disruptions to education, the Punjab School Education Department has implemented revised Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for all schools.
The government continues to aim for a balance between maintaining academic continuity and addressing health concerns during the winter months.
