The Punjab government has announced revised safety measures as schools outside Lahore and Multan prepare to reopen tomorrow. The guidelines aim to prioritise health and safety amid ongoing concerns over air pollution and smog.
According to the directives, classes will begin no earlier than 8:45 AM, and masks will be mandatory for students, teachers, and staff. School administrations have been tasked with ensuring strict compliance with this rule.
Outdoor sports and other activities will remain suspended until further notice to minimise exposure to poor air quality.

In an effort to prevent traffic congestion, schools have been instructed to stagger break times based on grade levels. Officials believe this step will ease movement and improve safety during peak hours.
Senior Minister Marriyum Aurangzeb stated that while education is vital, public health must remain the top priority. She noted that a change in wind patterns had contributed to a slight improvement in the smog situation.
Following directions from Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif, schools in districts outside Lahore and Multan are set to resume, with safety protocols in place.
The minister praised the efforts of agencies like the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), local police, and district administrations in addressing smog-related challenges. She also called for public cooperation to ensure the smooth implementation of these measures.
