Lt Gen Muhammad Asim Malik has been appointed as the new Director General (DG) of Pakistan’s Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI), with his tenure beginning on September 30, 2024. Lt Gen Malik’s academic credentials include prestigious qualifications from Fort Leavenworth in the United States and the Royal College of Defence Studies in the United Kingdom. His appointment was confirmed by the prime minister, following consultation with the army chief, in accordance with Pakistan’s long-standing tradition.
