LHC orders removal of Parvez Elahi’s family names from PCL

The Lahore High Court (LHC) on Monday directed the relevant authorities to remove the names of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) President Chaudhry Parvez Elahi, his son Rasikh Elahi, and daughter-in-law Zahra Elahi from the Passport Control List (PCL), as reported by Aaj News.

Justice Shams Mehmood Mirza issued these orders after accepting petitions filed by Elahi and his family members challenging their inclusion in the PCL. The court made its decision following thorough arguments presented by both sides.

The petitioners’ counsel argued that their clients’ names were unlawfully added to the PCL and requested the court to instruct authorities to remove them. In opposition, a federal law officer urged the court to dismiss the petitions.

This marks the second legal relief for the former Punjab chief minister in recent months. Earlier, on May 21, he was granted bail and released from jail in a money laundering case.

Elahi expressed gratitude in a statement on X, thanking the judges who “upheld the truth” and facilitated his release.

“I appreciate everyone who prayed for me and stood by me during this challenging period. The people of Gujarat faced significant oppression and injustice. Even our electoral mandate in Gujarat was stolen,” he stated, holding former interim CM Punjab and current Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi responsible for his arrest.
