The federal government plans to raise taxes on imported mobile phones in the 2024-25 budget.
According to sources, the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) intends to impose a Federal Excise Duty (FED), which will likely increase the prices of these phones.
Furthermore, the FBR has proposed higher regulatory duties and increased taxes by the Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) on imported luxury mobile phones.

In another major announcement, the government has significantly boosted the education budget. The Planning Commission stated that the education sector will receive Rs 20.25 billion in the upcoming budget.
The budget presentation, initially set for June 10, has been postponed to June 12. The Pakistan Economic Survey 2023-24 will now be presented on June 12, following a council meeting on June 10.
