WhatsApp introduces new feature for status

With a maximum recording time of 30 seconds, WhatsApp just added a new function that lets users upload voice notes as status updates for their contacts to hear. The variety of content that can be shared through the status feature will increase with the addition of voice notes, which will have a 24-hour lifespan before disappearing.

2017 saw the launch of the status function on the meta-owned messenger, which at first let users to share images, videos, GIFs, and text updates. The option to share voice notes as statuses has now been provided by the company in response to the platform’s growing popularity for voice messaging. WhatsApp said that it was processing an average of 7 billion audio messages per day in March of the year before, underscoring the rising demand for this function.
