People with fertility problems can now receive free test-tube babies, popularly known as in-vitro fertilization (IVF), in Punjab according to the Punjab government. The test tube baby facility was decided to be provided free in PTI’s tenure earlier this year in March.
Former, Punjab Health Minister Dr. Yasmin Rashid has siad the service would be provided at Lahore’s Mother & Child Hospital, which will be inaugurated by Prime Minister Imran Khan in June this year.
Although IVF therapy is currently available at a number of private institutions around Pakistan, this is the first time the government has made it free to the general public.
According to Yasmin Rashid, the in-vitro fertilization facility would treat women who are having difficulty getting pregnant due to physiological or reproductive difficulties.

The operation costs an arm and a leg in the private sector.
If you go to a private hospital, each session will cost Rs400,000, and the process will require numerous sittings.
