Australian captain Pat Cummins has called out an Australian media outlet for falsely attributing comments to him regarding India’s venue selection in the Champions Trophy 2025.
The controversy arose when Code Cricket published a post on February 25, claiming Cummins had questioned the ICC’s preferential treatment of India and criticized the tournament’s structure.

The report alleged that he had called the event a “farce” and objected to teams selecting their own venues. However, these statements were actually made by former England cricketer Jonathan Agnew.
He had voiced concerns over India playing all their matches at a single venue while other teams had to compete in multiple locations. Agnew argued that such arrangements undermined the fairness of international tournaments.
Reacting to the misattribution, Cummins swiftly refuted the claims on social media, tagging Code Cricket and writing, “I have definitely never said this.” Following his response, the outlet deleted the post.
Meanwhile, Australia kicked off their Champions Trophy campaign with an impressive win over England at Lahore’s Gaddafi Stadium. Chasing a record 351-run target, Australia secured victory in 47.3 overs, with standout performances from Josh Inglis (120 off 86 balls) and Alex Carey (69 off 63).
