Under the new legislation, MPAs, who currently receive Rs100,000 per month, will see their salaries rise fivefold to Rs500,000. Previously, on December 5, 2024, the Punjab cabinet had given its approval for the salary increases.
Once implemented, the Speaker of the Punjab Assembly will receive Rs1 million per month, while the Deputy Speaker’s salary will be adjusted to Rs800,000. Provincial ministers will also see their pay raised to Rs1 million, and parliamentary secretaries will earn Rs600,000 each.
Special assistants and advisors to the chief minister are set to receive Rs700,000 monthly under the new structure. The bill’s approval will mark a significant revision of the salary scales for Punjab’s lawmakers and officials, reflecting the provincial government’s recent financial decisions.
