Karachi braces for hottest week yet as temperatures soar

Weather expert Owais Hyder has forecasted that Karachi could experience its “hottest week of the year” ahead. Predictions suggest temperatures ranging from 40 to 42°C from Tuesday to Thursday.

Hyder emphasized the likelihood of intensified heat in the city in the coming week.

With the extreme heat looming, individuals are advised to remain indoors and stay well-hydrated to prevent heatstroke.

The scorching temperatures often exacerbate the power supply deficit, with some areas enduring up to 15 hours of load shedding per day.

Pakistan’s susceptibility to extreme weather events is on the rise, a phenomenon scientists attribute to climate change.

The recent heatwave has persisted in the metropolis for weeks and is expected to continue until the first week of June.

Common symptoms of heatstroke encompass profuse sweating or the absence of sweating coupled with hot, red, or flushed dry skin, along with weakness, lethargy, chills, a throbbing headache, elevated body temperature, hallucinations, confusion, dizziness, and slurred speech.

If an individual experiences any of these symptoms, it is imperative to promptly seek medical attention at the nearest healthcare facility.
