How to Apply for Petrol Subsidy in Punjab and Sindh

Provincial governments in Sindh and Punjab have announced petrol subsidy measures for motorcycle owners as part of relief initiatives following the recent increase in petroleum prices.

In Sindh, Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah announced a subsidy of Rs. 2,000 per month for motorcycle owners under a provincial scheme aimed at supporting daily commuters.

Under the plan, eligible applicants will be required to register through an application being launched by the Excise Department. Users will need to enter their CNIC number to verify vehicle ownership, and only motorcycles registered in the applicant’s name will qualify for the subsidy.

Applicants will also be asked to provide their bank account details for payment processing, with disbursements expected around mid-April.

Separately, Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz announced a fuel subsidy for motorcycle owners, allowing them to purchase up to 20 litres of petrol per month at a discounted rate of Rs. 100 per litre.

The Punjab government has also waived registration and transfer fees for motorcycles to facilitate ownership transfers and improve access to the subsidy.

The subsidy scheme in Punjab will be available from April 4, with citizens able to apply through multiple channels, including a dedicated helpline (1000), the “Maryam Ko Batayen” mobile application, and an online web portal.

Both provincial governments said the measures are aimed at easing the financial burden on citizens amid rising fuel costs and ensuring continued support for daily commuters.
