Routes to KP’s Tourist Areas to Remain Open All Year

Chief Minister Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Ali Amin Khan Gandapur has handed over advanced multipurpose machines to the Galiyat Development Authority (GDA) and Kaghan Development Authority (KDA), marking the first time such equipment has been introduced in Pakistan.

The high-performance machinery, procured under the KITE Program with World Bank support, is capable of performing seven different functions. These include keeping roads open during heavy snowfall, removing snow and glaciers, clearing fallen trees, and removing debris and other obstructions.

Officials confirmed that the purchase of four additional machines is currently underway. Authorities say the new equipment will help maintain uninterrupted access to popular tourist destinations during winter months, ensuring safety for travelers and facilitating emergency response efforts.

The machines are expected to play a critical role in preventing road closures that often disrupt tourism and local life in the region.

The provincial government is stepping up initiatives to make Khyber Pakhtunkhwa’s scenic locations safer, more accessible, and appealing for visitors. Efforts include upgrading infrastructure, building connecting roads, and launching new tourism-focused projects.

Officials believe the introduction of these machines will not only improve safety and accessibility but also strengthen the province’s reputation as a year-round tourist destination.
