The Cabinet Division has officially announced public holidays for Eid ul Azha from May 26 to May 28, according to a notification issued on May 20.
The notification stated that Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif approved public holidays on Tuesday, May 26, Wednesday, May 27, and Thursday, May 28 on the occasion of Eid ul Azha.

The newly announced schedule differs from the public and optional holidays calendar issued by the Cabinet Division in January 2026.
Under the earlier notification, Eid ul Azha holidays were scheduled from Wednesday, May 27, to Friday, May 29. However, the revised schedule shifts the holidays to Tuesday through Thursday.
For government employees as well as schools, colleges, and universities where Friday, Saturday, and Sunday are already weekly holidays, the revised notification effectively creates a six-day break from May 26 to May 31.
Meanwhile, most private sector employees are expected to return to work on Friday, May 29, which falls on the third day of Eid ul Azha.
The revised schedule will also be followed by the weekend on May 30 and 31, extending holidays for many public sector employees and educational institutions.
