The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has imposed a Rs. 5 million fine on each member of Pakistan’s T20 World Cup squad following the team’s disappointing campaign at the ICC event.
Pakistan exited the tournament in the Super Eight stage and failed to reach the semi-finals of an ICC men’s event for the fourth consecutive time, marking the first such streak in the country’s history.

According to ESPNcricinfo, the fines were not linked to any disciplinary breach but were imposed over what the board viewed as substandard on-field performances. The decision was communicated to players after their group-stage defeat to India, where Pakistan suffered a 61-run loss. Players were informed that the fines could be waived if the team advanced to the semi-finals.
Although Pakistan progressed beyond the first round, they struggled in the Super Eight stage. A washout against New Zealand was followed by a defeat to England, leaving the team dependent on other results. Despite securing a win over Sri Lanka, the margin proved insufficient to keep their semi-final hopes alive.
Reports indicate there were no internal disciplinary issues during the tournament. While the PCB has previously taken action after major defeats, penalties tied directly to performance rather than conduct are considered rare.
Despite the team’s early exit, Sahibzada Farhan delivered a standout performance, setting a record for most runs in a single T20 World Cup and becoming the only player to score two centuries in the same edition.
