Earlier in October, the Punjab School Education Department revised school timings in response to worsening smog conditions. The department set daily sessions to begin at 8:45 a.m. under the revised plan.

Schools now conduct classes from 8:45 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. from Monday to Thursday. On Fridays, schools close at 12:30 p.m. Officials said the adjusted hours help limit students’ exposure to hazardous air quality during early morning hours.
