Police late on Tuesday released Imran Khan’s sisters, including Aleema Khan, at the Chakri Interchange after a brief detention.
Police arrested three sisters of Imran Khan Aleema Khan, Noreen Niazi, and one other during an operation to clear the area outside Adiala Jail, where the incarcerated former Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) founding chairman Imran Khan is being held.
@Police violently detained Imran Khan’s sisters, Aleema Khan, Noreen Niazi, and Dr Uzma Khan from where they were sitting peacefully outside Adiala Jail after yet again being denied their weekly visit with their brother. KP provincial minister Meena Khan Afridi, MNA Shahid Khattak, and other party office holders and workers, including several women, were also subjected to violence and picked up by police. What should be routine weekly court-mandated family visits, in accordance with Imran Khan’s rights as a prisoner, are being used as a tool of oppression and violence against his family members and supporters”, read a post on PTI’s official ‘X’ account.
Many people on social media are condemning the arrest, with some even calling it an attack on peaceful protest. Imran Khan’s sisters and other PTI leaders staged a 10-hour-long sit-in outside Adiala Jail.
