PMDC Announces New Fee for MDCAT 2025

The Pakistan Medical and Dental Council (PMDC) has rejected reports claiming an 80 percent increase in the Medical and Dental Colleges Admission Test (MDCAT) 2025 fee, clarifying that the actual rise is only 12.5 percent.

In a statement issued on Saturday, the PMDC confirmed that registration for MDCAT 2025 has started and the test will be held on Sunday, October 5. The council explained that the exam fee, which was Rs8,000 in 2024, has been set at Rs9,000 for 2025 — an increase of Rs1,000.

The PMDC said the MDCAT will be conducted by universities nominated by federal and provincial authorities, while the council has developed a uniform syllabus in consultation with stakeholders and prepared a question bank based on the consensus curriculum of all provinces.

According to the council, the fee adjustment was made at the request of the universities conducting the exam to meet rising costs, including printing, enhanced security, logistics, payments for invigilators and staff, and facilities at national and international centres.

The MDCAT 2025 will be conducted through the University of Health Sciences, Lahore; Sukkur IBA University; Khyber Medical University, Peshawar; Bolan University of Medical and Health Sciences, Quetta; and Shaheed Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto Medical University, Islamabad. An international venue has also been set up in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.

The PMDC reiterated its commitment to affordability, transparency, and equal opportunities for all candidates.
