The Punjab Cabinet, under the leadership of Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz, has approved a set of wide-ranging measures aimed at improving public welfare, education, disaster response, and governance.
One of the most notable decisions was the approval of lifetime pension benefits for the widows of government employees, ensuring long-term financial support for the families of public servants.

In recognition of their service, the cabinet announced a cash reward of Rs. 50,000 for rescue workers performing duties during flood emergencies. On the education front, the government has decided to officially resume assessments for Grade 5 students and conduct formal board examinations for Grade 8 students.
Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz also directed authorities to establish industries inside jails, aiming to create skill-building and rehabilitation opportunities for inmates. The cabinet further approved the launch of an online application system for setting up petrol pumps, part of the government’s push for greater efficiency and transparency in public services.
In higher education, it was agreed that vice chancellors would be hired from the open market, with a minimum requirement of 80 percent marks in the evaluation process. Additionally, the cabinet approved the release of Rs. 2.6 billion to the Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) for flood relief efforts across the province.
