Lahore to Get World’s First Advanced Dust Suspension System

In a bold move to address the growing smog crisis, Lahore has become the first city in the world to begin installing an advanced Dust Suspension System aimed at reducing hazardous air pollution.

The project kicked off on Friday with the arrival of 15 high-tech anti-smog guns, designed to spray fine water mist into the air to capture and remove harmful particles like PM2.5 and PM10.

Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif announced the development on X, stating that installation of the cutting-edge system is now underway in Lahore.

She explained that the fog cannons utilize micro water spraying technology and will be directly connected to the province’s Real-Time Air Quality Monitoring Network and Environmental Protection Force for better coordination.

What sets this system apart is its smart automation. It is programmed to activate when pollution levels cross a dangerous threshold, ensuring timely and efficient responses to worsening air conditions.

The initiative also includes satellite data integration, drones, QR-coded sensors, and air-based tracking to provide real-time environmental analysis and targeted action.

Calling it a significant leap in Punjab’s fight against air pollution, Maryam Nawaz said the success of the initiative would depend on both innovation and public cooperation.

“With determination and technology, we will win the fight against smog,” she said.
