The Punjab government has introduced the Punjab E-Taxi Scheme, a major step toward eco-friendly transport and youth empowerment. In the first phase, 1,100 electric taxis will be distributed on interest-free installments, allowing jobless youth to own EVs without financial strain.
Part of CM Maryam Nawaz’s E-Taxi Programme 2025, the project aims to phase out fuel-based taxis and cut urban pollution across Punjab. During a recent executive committee meeting, Punjab Transport Minister Bilal Akbar Khan reviewed vehicle specs, pricing, and infrastructure plans.

Dewan Motors, the scheme’s official partner, will supply locally assembled EVs—Honri VC20 and VC30—capable of running 200 km and 300 km per charge. These zero-emission vehicles are key to building a sustainable urban transport system.
To make the EVs accessible, the government is offering interest-free loans with easy monthly payments. Charging stations will be placed every 3 km across Lahore, with expansion plans for other cities.
Minister Khan said the initiative is designed to not only promote clean transport but also create jobs, especially for youth and women. Over 60,000 applications have already been received.
The scheme will be launched publicly in the coming weeks through an outreach campaign focused on including women, people with disabilities, and those in rural areas.
