Electricity Becomes Cheaper Across Pakistan

NEPRA has officially announced a reduction in electricity prices under monthly fuel cost adjustment, offering relief to consumers nationwide.

According to the notification, the price of electricity has been reduced by Rs. 4.03 per unit for K-Electric consumers, while other parts of the country will see a reduction of Rs. 0.50 per unit.

NEPRA issued separate notifications for K-Electric and other power distribution companies (DISCOs). The relief will reflect in July 2025 electricity bills.

For K-Electric, the decrease applies to the April 2025 fuel cost adjustment, while for the rest of the country, it applies to the May 2025 adjustment.

K-Electric had originally requested a Rs. 4.69 per unit reduction in the April adjustment. Meanwhile, the Central Power Purchasing Agency (CPPA) had asked for a Rs. 0.10 per unit increase for May, but NEPRA instead approved a Rs. 0.50 per unit decrease for public sector DISCOs.

The reduction will provide slight financial relief to millions of electricity consumers during July, especially amid rising inflation and summer bills.

Consumers are advised to check their upcoming bills for adjusted rates. However, the relief will not apply to lifeline consumers and electric vehicle charging stations, as per NEPRA’s standard adjustment policies.
