Petrol and Diesel Prices Could Get a Massive Increase Next Month

Motor Spirit (MS) petrol and High-Speed Diesel (HSD) prices in Pakistan are likely to witness another sharp increase in the upcoming fortnightly review, driven by rising global oil prices amid escalating regional tensions, according to Arif Habib Limited.

If the upward trend continues, petrol prices could surge by Rs. 21 per liter, while diesel may increase by Rs. 27 per liter. This would bring the new petrol rate to approximately Rs. 279–280 per liter, and diesel to Rs. 289–290 per liter, starting July 1, 2025.

The primary reason behind this anticipated hike is the sharp increase in international oil prices, triggered by the ongoing Israel-Iran conflict. As of June 20, 2025, the international price of Gas Oil had risen by 9.6%, reaching $93.3 per barrel, while Gasoline jumped 4.5% to $83.4 per barrel, since June 13.

This would mark the second price increase within a month. On June 15, the government had already raised petrol prices by Rs. 4.80 per liter and diesel by Rs. 7.95 per liter for the final fortnight of the fiscal year 2024–25.

If global tensions persist and prices continue to rise, consumers in Pakistan may face added financial strain, with further hikes in petroleum prices expected in the coming pricing cycle.
