Ishaq Dar to Sign Convention as Pakistan Joins International Organization for Mediation as Founding Member

Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar is set to embark on a two-day visit to Hong Kong on Thursday to participate in the signing ceremony for the establishment of the International Organization for Mediation (IOMed).

During the visit, Dar will formally sign the convention that establishes the IOMed and is scheduled to deliver an address at the official ceremony on May 30. According to a statement released by the Foreign Office on Wednesday, he will also hold a series of bilateral meetings on the sidelines of the event.

“Pakistan believes that peace and security, as well as global prosperity, can be promoted and preserved through strict adherence to the principles of the UN Charter, faithful implementation of UN Security Council resolutions, and international law,” the statement said.

It further emphasized that mediation, diplomacy, dialogue, and international cooperation are central components of Pakistan’s foreign policy strategy.

Pakistan is joining the IOMed as one of its founding members, reinforcing the country’s long-standing commitment to the peaceful resolution of international disputes. “Pakistan remains strongly supportive of the aims and objectives of the International Organization for Mediation, recognising its potential for peaceful and pacific settlement of international disputes,” the statement added.
