The Sindh Transport Department has officially launched the Peoples Pink and Normal Taxi Service to provide safer, affordable, and eco-friendly travel options across the province.
Sindh’s Senior Minister Sharjeel Inam Memon announced the launch through a social media post, calling the initiative a “historic milestone for Sindh.” He said the project aims to modernize the public transport system, empower women, and ensure equal access for all.

The Pink Taxi Service is designed specifically for female passengers, focusing on safety and comfort. The Normal Taxi Service will serve the general public. According to a press release, the project reflects the government’s commitment to creating inclusive and sustainable transport solutions.
Memon, who also holds the transport and information portfolios, said that work is underway to bring all online taxi services in Karachi—such as Careem and Yango—under one unified system. This integration will help regulate the services and ensure legal and standard operations.
The minister also shared updates on other upcoming transport projects, including the distribution of free pink scooters to women. He added that double-decker buses will arrive by June, while a larger fleet of new buses is expected by late June or early July.
The Sindh government hopes these steps will significantly improve urban mobility.
