Under the program, eligible patients must register with the Punjab Human Organ Transplantation Authority to receive treatment at government expense. In addition to public hospitals, certain private hospitals will also offer transplant services.
To assist citizens, a toll-free helpline 09009 0800 has been set up. Maryam Nawaz emphasized the government’s commitment to ensuring healthcare access for all, stating that the cost of transplants would be fully covered, easing the financial burden on patients.
She highlighted that cochlear implants would enable deaf children to hear, while cornea transplants would restore vision for many.
The initiative is part of broader efforts to improve healthcare and support low-income families. Officials believe it will significantly enhance the quality of life for patients in need of life-saving transplants.
