The Punjab government has introduced a comprehensive plan to tackle staff shortages in public schools across the province. The initiative will focus on filling both teaching and non-teaching roles to enhance the overall functioning of schools and ensure better learning outcomes.
The School Education Department (SED) has instructed District Education Authority (DEA) CEOs to submit recruitment plans detailing vacancies in their districts.
To manage the process effectively, a five-member committee has been established, comprising senior officials from the SED and monitoring units.

The committee will review the recruitment proposals and oversee hiring decisions to ensure resources are distributed fairly across schools. A monitoring unit will provide lists of staff awaiting assignments and identify schools in critical need of personnel.
Additionally, the plan includes utilising staff from outsourced schools to fill non-teaching roles. This step aims to bring in experienced personnel to support administrative tasks, reducing the burden on teaching staff.
Officials believe this initiative will significantly improve the quality of education in Punjab by addressing staffing gaps and creating a better environment for students and teachers alike
