21,000 School Students to Get Free Sweaters, Jackets, and Shoes

The Punjab government has announced a comprehensive plan to protect school students from harsh winter conditions by distributing warm clothing across the province.

Starting January 13, around 21,000 students in public schools will receive essential winter wear. The distribution will take place in Lahore, Narowal, Rajanpur, and Layyah districts.

As part of the initiative, students will be provided with sweaters, jackets, shoes, and uniforms to help them combat the cold.

The project, launched under the directives of the Chief Minister, is being implemented in collaboration with the Bait-ul-Mal and Social Welfare departments. Authorities confirmed that the selection process for eligible schools has already been completed.

Separately, the Punjab School Education Department has temporarily relaxed uniform policies for students.

According to an official notification, students in both public and private schools are now permitted to wear warm clothing of any style or colour, including jackets, sweaters, coats, hats, socks, and shoes.

This policy adjustment aims to ensure students remain comfortable during the winter season. The new uniform flexibility will remain in effect until February 28, 2025, allowing children to dress appropriately for the weather.
