European Union Warns Pakistanis About Visa Scams

The European Union (EU) Delegation to Pakistan has issued a public advisory about fraudulent activities targeting citizens seeking visa and consular services.

According to the delegation, criminal organisations have been creating fake listings for EU member state embassies on Google Maps to mislead people.

In a statement shared on X, the EU Delegation highlighted that these fake entries include incorrect information about consular services and visa appointments. Additionally, the listings often provide fraudulent phone numbers intended to deceive users.

“This is a dangerous scam operated by criminal groups,” the EU Delegation warned, stressing that citizens should rely exclusively on official embassy websites for accurate information about visa and consular matters.

The statement also clarified that only these official sites can provide verified contact details and service options.

The delegation further explained that it does not process visas or passports, as these responsibilities lie with the embassies and consulates of individual EU member states. Pakistani citizens were strongly advised to avoid relying on Google Maps or other unofficial platforms for embassy information.

Instead, travelers planning to visit Europe should contact the relevant embassy or consulate directly to ensure they follow legitimate visa procedures. By staying vigilant and using official resources, individuals can protect themselves from falling victim to these scams.
